The Fame (Intro)

1. The Fame (Intro) 02:57

What do you think you’re most known for? – Your acting? Your music? Or the controversy that surrounds you?

Hahaha My big mouth… I got a big mouth, I can’t help it. I talk from my heart, I’m real. You know what I’m saying? Whatever comes, comes. But my controversy problems. And it’s not my fault. I try to find my way in the world, you know? I try to be somebody instead of just, make money off of everybody.

Did you feed off the fact that people maybe underestimated you? Or didn’t respected you early on?

Oh yeah, definitely, definitely. I think that, there was like a youthful rage kind of in me. And there was also, you know, the, the fact of, the no getting away from fact that I am white. And you know this is predominantly black music, you know? And people telling me; “You don’t belong, like, you’re not gonna succeed because you are this color” Then you wanna show those people that, you know, that you, that you can and you will.

I told so many people for so long that I was a superstar, I wasn’t. And one morning I woke up and the delusion was real. I get to live my dream and I get to hopefully live the dream in a way that inspires other people to live their dream. I, I always knew it was my destiny but I didn’t know what destiny meant until I saw my fans, until… I’m still the same person that I was six years ago before all this happened and… I still walk down the same streets, and go to the same delis, and I drink my coffee the same. I always want a little dirt on my shoe. I always want one more stairwell to climb. I always want to have to walk up a walk-up, you know? And not have an elevator built into my walk-up to survive. Because I think that’s when you lose focus. If you forget, you forget how you got to the top, and once you forget how you got to the top. You forget everybody that helped you, and you forget everything that inspired you. And then you wake up one morning and that inspiration and that creativity. Gives you a one ol’ middle finger that says; “You, you forgot me. You denied me, and I’m the reason for you.” So, I’ll fuck myself up all the way to the top. Just to keep it real!
